Moment is in public beta
Moment, as a product, has a single aspiration: to be as rich and collaborative as Google Docs or Notion, but based entirely on Markdown files that are stored in a git repository, on your device.
Not synced to Markdown files; not ejected or exported. Your files, fully editable offline, in a format other editors and tools understand, with all the bells and whistles that come with a modern docs experience. That means collaborative editing, a library of UI components (buttons, data grids, text fields) you can use out of the box, and—uniquely—the ability to program your document with ordinary JavaScript code.
As of today, Moment is in public beta.
That means we think the core experience is far enough along that we want your feedback and help prioritizing what to work on next. How can you help?
Tell us what you think!
What’s next?
So that’s the aspiration, where are we now? The checklist below represents a very rough roadmap for Moment. If you’d like to weigh in on what should go here, please join the Discord server and speak up!
As of 02/26/2025:
Google Docs/Notion-like rich text editing experience.
Docs are just Markdown files, stored in git repositories, on local device storage.
UI for committing changes to git, viewing git history, etc.
Publishing any Moment doc as a public web site.
Initial crop of standard library components.
[Alpha] Collaborative editing. (If you want early access, ask about it in the Discord server.)
Larger collection of standard components (text fields, date pickers, etc.).
Document branching.
Tools for making requests to authenticated APIs.
Lastly, if any of this is interesting to you technically, we are hiring for engineering roles generally. Email [email protected], or [email protected] for more information.
